Artist's Comments

OK...so there are probably some images that as an artist, you should just bury. I'm sure everyone goes back to old pieces to rework them when their skill level changes, or they just think they can "fix it"...I in particular, have a bad habit of going deep into my portfolio to dig up crap that gave me trouble before and revamp it. This bard was first done in pencil...then colored in PSP, only to look like...bleh. She had a lot of problems that I just couldn't wrap my head around...near a year later I've come back to her, fixing some of these old problems...only to create new ones...

Bleh...some work should probably just be left alone and counted as a loss.

Wow you have made quiet a few changes to this one piece I see. I love the way you did the hair making it look so wind blown and realistic. The cloak is soft looking it looks like velvet. You also enhanced her lips and the whisks of hair in her face draw attention to the tattoo. The darkening at the bottom by the cloak draws the viewer's eyes back to the woman. You also made the light source more obvious. I love this piece, she looks so alive and mysterious, excellent work as always, Nick.

This is definately my favourite. I don't care if you think it is too old, leave it up so we can ogle! :) I love the colors, contrasts, and subtle use of shiny reflection.

It is through art, and through art only, that we can realize our perfection; through art and art only that we can shield ourselves from the sordid perils of actual existence.

The bard was the first piece of work that I saw by you. I loved it then and I love it now. I think she is exquisite.
